How This Trade Impacts Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are likely heading into the regular season with at least one if not two, roster spots open. They want to have some flexibility when it comes to making moves during the season, whether it is completing a trade or being active in the buyout market.

The Lakers are hopeful that their signings will pan out, but if there are any issues, Rob Pelinka will need to have contingency plans in place to make changes. One of them could be targeting a player such as Kenrich Williams.

Williams is a solid two-way performer that could chip in production with their second unit. In 21.6 minutes per game last season, Williams averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks. He is a capable floor-spacer as well, knocking down 44.4 percent of his 3-point attempts last season. It wasn’t high-volume, but it showed that he can knock it down if left open.

He is an excellent defender with great versatility. He logged minutes at every position last season, playing a majority of his minutes at small forward and power forward. He graded out positively as a defender, something that a contending team can never have too much of.
