3 Trade Targets For Philadelphia 76ers Entering Training Camp

There seems to be no resolution in sight for the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons. Back on August 31, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the 3x NBA All-Star requested a trade from Philadelphia and stated that he did not intend to report to training camp, which is set to begin on September 28.

As of right now, there have been no advancements made on a potential Ben Simmons trade for the 76ers, and they seem to want to “mend” their relationship with him.

Time will tell if Simmons was bluffing or not on sitting out training camp, but the 76ers do expect him to be there so that the next few weeks could be very interesting in Philadelphia.

Ultimately, it seems like Ben Simmons’ time with the Sixers is coming to an end, but there does not seem to be an end in sightseeing as the Philadelphia 76ers are not coming down on their asking price.

Philly wants another All-Star talent for the two-way All-Star, and rightfully so, but no other team in the league has been willing to offer up their best players to try and trade for Simmons.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Cleveland Cavaliers are five teams that have been mentioned to be interested in a potential Ben Simmons trade. Still, out of all of these teams, only the Timberwolves (Karl-Anthony Towns) and the Raptors (Pascal Siakam) have an All-Star-level talent on their team.

Training camp is set to begin on September 28, and the 76ers “remain intent” on trying to convince Ben Simmons to report to the team’s facility then, so I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

At this point, it is not a matter of if Ben Simmons will be traded. It is a matter of when and how much damage the 76ers will do to their team’s image in the process. The 76ers are a championship-caliber team, but if they do not get a good return for Simmons, they could be right back where they started before “the process.”

Trading Ben Simmons seems like the only way for the Philadelphia 76ers to actually improve during the 2021-22 season, so let’s take a look at three potential trade targets for them to maybe pursue in a trade ahead of and entering training camp.
