The Sacramento Kings came into the NBA offseason needing to make some changes. They have missed the postseason 15 straight years, which tied the record held by the Buffalo Braves/San Diego Clippers/Los Angeles Clippers.
That is not a record the Kings want sole possession of. Reshaping the roster is imperative to making sure that doesn’t happen.
They added another defensive-minded, hard-nosed point guard in Davion Mitchell with their first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. With another guard in the mix, they traded Delon Wright as part of a three-team deal with the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks which landed veteran Tristan Thompson in Sacramento.
Thompson will help shore up the frontcourt bringing a veteran presence that can still rebound and play a little defense. Both of those acquisitions will help change the culture and attitude of the team.

Trading Buddy Hield remains an option when it comes to fixing the backcourt log jam. Could the Orlando Magic be a potential landing spot? Let’s take a look at a hypothetical swap between the two teams.
