3 Trade Scenarios Involving Eric Gordon For Rockets To Consider

Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets, NBA Trade Rumors

There is no shortage of veteran talent in the NBA and Eric Gordon could be the latest experienced player to be on the move in the near future.

While the 32-year-old shooting guard is under contract through the 2023-24 season, the final year of his contract is non-guaranteed, so he is really only under contract through the 2022-23 season for whatever team trades for him.

Gordon is owed $18.2M this season and then $19.6M next season, which is definitely a lot for any team to take on at this point after free agency, but there are still teams who could be willing to accept his contract.

He only played in 27 games last year due to a groin injury, but before sitting out the rest of the year, Eric Gordon was averaging 17.8 points, 2.6 assists, and was shooting 43.3% from the floor.

For his career, Gordon has shot 36.8% from three-point range and has been a part of numerous title-contending teams in Houston that were never able to crack through and make the NBA Finals. There is no doubt that the veteran guard can contribute at a high level on both ends of the floor and his time in Houston seems to be coming to an end.

Eric Gordon is open to being traded, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, and the Rockets should be more than willing to move on from him. Houston finished with a 17-55 record last year, the worst in the league, and they are going to be rebuilding over the next few seasons.

Seeing as he is on the back-half of his career, there really is no need for the Rockets to hang onto Gordon and his contract, hence why they will likely look to move him before the trade deadline this upcoming season.

So where could Eric Gordon end up and what can Houston expect to get for him value-wise? Let’s take a look at three different trade packages that the Rockets could consider involving Gordon and possibly some extra incentives for a team that is willing to take on his salary.
