#2 Myles Turner – Indiana Pacers

One of my favorite picks for Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season is Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. Many people think the Pacers are a bad team, but they just have not been able to stay healthy over the years, Myles Turner included!

Turner only played in 47 games last year due to various injuries, with a foot/toe injury ending his season last year, but when he is on the court, he is arguably the best rim-protector in the league.

Through 6 seasons in the NBA, Myles Turner has averaged 2.2 blocks per game and has led the league in blocked shots two different times, including last season when he averaged 3.4 blocks per game.

Rudy Gobert has won three of the last four Defensive Player of the Year awards for being an elite-level rim-protector, so there really is not any discussion in terms of if Turner can steal this award from him if he remains healthy.

The Pacers are going to be a lot better if they can stay healthy during the 2021-22 season, which is why Turner could get a lot more attention than he did last year for this award.
