There will be a lot of eyes on the Los Angeles Lakers during the upcoming NBA season. The team overhauled virtually their entire roster, as only LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Talen Horton-Tucker are returning from last season’s team.

There are currently 10 new faces on the roster and it would not be surprising to see that number reach as high as 12 during the season. The most recognizable and polarizing of the new players is Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook was acquired from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and the No. 22 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

It was a trade that drew a lot of attention and rightfully so. It was the biggest blockbuster trade of the offseason and everyone wants to know how the Lakers’ new Big 3 will mesh together. While the team is confident it will work and all three want to win, there are some concerns about that group.

The spacing will be troublesome at times. Deciding who will have the ball in their hands at what time could also be a challenge for Frank Vogel to find out. If things don’t work out and the Lakers want to make a change on the fly, the possibilities are limited.

Westbrook will be paid more than $44 million this season and has a player option worth more than $47 million next season. Moving a contract of that size won’t be easy, but the San Antonio Spurs could be a landing spot.

Let’s check out what a potential deal centered around Westbrook between the Lakers and Spurs could look like.
