The Portland Trail Blazers are another team that changes were expected to happen. After being eliminated from the first round in four out of the last five seasons, the organization and head coach Terry Stotts parted ways.

Chauncey Billups was tabbed as his replacement, but he is inheriting a roster that is virtually the same as last season. Damian Lillard has asked for the front office to show some urgency and they didn’t respond as expected. There was speculation about if that would result in a CJ McCollum trade.

The only real change to the rotation is Carmelo Anthony departing and Larry Nance Jr. being acquired in a three-team trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls. Cody Zeller, Ben McLemore, and Tony Snell were the team’s free-agent acquisitions as well.

Short of Lillard requesting a trade, the only way for Portland to shake things up is by trading CJ McCollum. One of the best scoring shooting guards in the NBA and a borderline All-Star would net a solid return package.

Portland needs to shore things up defensively and could use help on the wings. If CJ McCollum is put on the trade block, they should be able to fill both of those needs with a return package.
