Adding Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan, Alex Caruso, and Derrick Jones Jr., this offseason has quickly made the Chicago Bulls a team to look out for in the Eastern Conference, especially since they have two All-Stars in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic as well.
Chicago has a chance to be a special team during the 2021-22 season, but they will need to find ways to continue improving their shooting depth, especially after they shot 37% from deep as a team last year, ranking them 13th in the league.
The Chicago Bulls were definitely a strong shooting team last year. Still, Lauri Markkanen, Tomas Satoransky, and Garrett Temple are no longer on their roster, plus Coby White will likely miss the start of the season as he continues to recover from offseason shoulder surgery.
This leaves the Bulls with limited shooting options, meaning Matt Thomas has a strong chance to earn an actual roster spot with Chicago. The Bulls signed Thomas to a one-year, $1.67M non-guaranteed contract on September 6, making his contract practically a training camp deal.

Last season, Thomas began the year with the Raptors and was traded to the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline. In a total of 45 games during the 2020-21 season, Matt Thomas averaged 33.8% from three-point range, and for his career, he has shot 41.3% from deep.
The 27-year-old shooting guard is a catch-and-shoot threat on the perimeter, and with the Bulls having some extra roster spots to fill, he could easily earn one if he shoots well during Chicago’s training camp workouts.
