Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Dillon Brooks
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F Talen Horton-Tucker, G Kendrick Nunn, 2023 Second-Round Pick (via CHI)
In this deal, the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies come together on a swap. They have already completed one trade with each other this offseason, as the Lakers traded Marc Gasol and a second-round pick to Memphis for the draft rights to Wang Zhelin.
It was a nice gesture, as Gasol will be retiring from the NBA with the team he made a name for himself before returning to Spain to finish his career. This most recent hypothetical trade will have much more impact on the teams this season.
But, this deal would have to wait until March to be done, as Talen Horton-Tucker was signed using Bird rights, with a 20 percent raise in salary and the Lakers operating over the cap.
For Memphis, this deal nets them two rotation players, to help the team. Horton-Tucker has immense potential and will be turning only 21 in November. He is locked into what could become a very team-friendly deal should he develop as some expect him to.

Horton-Tucker stands 6’4” but has a 7’1” wingspan. He can be an absolute terror defensively with the ability to defend four positions. He’s a little shorter than Draymond Green, but just as long and much more athletic.
He is honing his playmaking skills and could develop into a nice secondary option to run the offense alongside Ja Morant down the road. His offensive game needs to be rounded out, but the Grizzlies would be getting a nice scoring punch from Kendrick Nunn.

Nunn was wonderful in his two seasons with the Miami Heat to begin his career. He is an offensive-minded, scoring point guard that has averaged 15 points per game, knocking down 36.4 percent of his 3-point attempts. He would be an excellent addition to the second unit for a team that sometimes struggles to find consistent offensive production.
Memphis would likely be for this trade; would the Lakers feel similarly? Let’s take a look.
