Would this trade make sense for Charlotte Hornets?
The Gordon Hayward contract might have seemed like a good idea last season, but a lot can change in just one year. The Charlotte Hornets are starting to improve, and they could use that cap space in different ways.
Hayward has continued to struggle with staying on the floor. He got off to a strong start last season with 19.6 points per game, but he was held to just 44 games. With the ‘youth movement’ in full effect led by LaMelo Ball, adding more assets by moving Hayward could help build something special long-term.
The Hornets need more than this for a player that is earning $120 million. This contract might have caused some eyebrow raises in the first place, so it would not be a surprise to see the team send him away.
In return, they would get two expiring contracts. Gary Harris and Mo Bamba could be flipped in another deal or let it play out in the short term. There are plenty of options.

This is a low-risk move for the Hornets because of the return they would be getting. They are getting endless options, and it seems like a no-brainer if it can get done.
