Monta Ellis

Everyone knows about Isaiah Thomas and DeMarcus Cousins wanting to make NBA comebacks, but what about former Warriors’ standout Monta Ellis, who last played in the league during the 2016-17 season with the Indiana Pacers before being bought out of his contract and waived.

Monta Ellis went public about wanting to get back in the NBA and he told Empire Sports Media that he wants another shot to prove himself.

For 6.5 seasons in Golden State after being drafted by them 40th overall in 2005, Ellis stood out as one of “the guys” on the Warriors’ roster for years. He was beloved by the fanbase for years, but after being traded to the Bucks for Andrew Bogut during the 2012-13 season, another fan-favorite by the name of Stephen Curry stepped up and rose into stardom.

Monta Ellis spent 12 seasons in the NBA and with four different teams, he was actually a really solid producer on the offensive end of the floor. He averaged 17.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and shot 45.1% from the floor over the course of his career, but now being 35-years-old and never really known as a three-point shooter, not many teams are going to be interested in him.

However, this has not stopped Monta Ellis from trying to make a comeback and he even worked out for a few teams in Las Vegas last week to try and showcase what he can still do.

Not many teams in the league still have an open roster spot, but there is still time between now and training camp for Monta Ellis to earn a training camp invite, so it should be interesting to see if the veteran guard can try to prove himself one last time to the teams in the NBA.
