The Golden State Warriors came into the NBA offseason ready to make a big splash. They were armed with the assets to make a competitive offer for any impact player that may have come available to trade for.
Veteran Andrew Wiggins put together the best season of his career with the Warriors, showing that two-way potential that made him the No. 1 overall pick in 2014. His salary could be used to match deals and Golden State had the assets to sweeten the deal.
No. 2 overall pick in 2020, James Wiseman, is an excellent bargaining chip. The Warriors also had two lottery picks, No. 7 and No. 14, in the 2021 NBA Draft that could have been included in a deal.
Alas, nothing came to fruition. Golden State ended up making both selections and, for now, still has both players and Wiseman on the roster. The Warriors have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Ben Simmons, so something could still change in the coming weeks.
