Christmas came early in July for the Detroit Pistons this year, as with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft selected Cade Cunningham. Detroit did draft guard Killian Hayes with the 7th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, but Cunningham has a chance to be a complete franchise-changing player for the Pistons over the next decade or so, which is why this was a no-brainer pick for them.
The Pistons went 20-52 last season, not offering much assurance that they will be improving any time soon, but the 2021-22 season has a chance to be yet another strong developmental year for this young team. Their longest-tenured player is now Killian Hayes, who was drafted last year, so this organization definitely has a lot of growing to do!
Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, Killian Hayes, Cade Cunningham, and Saben Lee are some of their young talents, but what about 27-year-old forward Jerami Grant?
In one season with the Detroit Pistons last year, Grant had a career year, averaging 22.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and shooting 35% from three-point range, but the Pistons have been very adamant about the fact that they do not want to move him in a trade.

However, Grant’s value is at an all-time high, and he is on a very moveable contract, so could they entertain a relatively intriguing offer from the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are looking to add more talented players to their roster? Minnesota has not been to the playoffs since 2018, and in fact, this is the only time they have been to the playoffs since 2004.
The Timberwolves franchise has been at “rock bottom” in the league for quite some time now, but that could wind up changing if they end up adding Jerami Grant to their core of D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, and Karl-Anthony Towns. With this said, let’s look at what Minnesota could offer up in attempts to try and land Grant.
