Bradley Beal’s future after he gets paid
The future of Bradley Beal is definitely something to monitor as we get closer to the start of the 2021-22 season, but it is unlikely that he will be dealt during the season. Why is this, you ask? Well, Beal is set to be eligible for a supermax contract extension next offseason that would pay him roughly $235M over the next five seasons.
Who knows whether or not Bradley Beal is telling the truth about wanting to stay in Washington D.C. long-term, but he definitely is not going to turn down the opportunity to sign this mega-contract extension with the Wizards.
He may not immediately be traded after signing said extension, but Bradley Beal could request a trade during the 2022-23 season, thus being moved around the NBA trade deadline then.
Things could get complicated, though, in terms of moving his contract, as the All-Star shooting guard would be making more than $40M that season, a contract that not many teams would have the capability to absorb midseason.

This whole Bradley Beal situation is very complex, much like Ben Simmons’ situation in Philadelphia, but if Washington struggles this year, it is safe to assume that Beal could be on his way out. Bradley Beal is now 28-years-old and in the prime of his career, which is why he could look at other places to go and contend for a championship.
Bradley Beal’s future with the Wizards is definitely clouded right now. He has now been an All-Star in three of the last four seasons and recently was named to the All-NBA Third Team after averaging 31.3 points and 48.5% shooting from the floor during the 2020-21 season.

Still, we should be monitoring him throughout training camp and through the start of the 2021-22 season to see if Bradley Beal truly wants to remain in Washington long-term or just long enough to earn his mega payday.
