The Miami Heat had a disappointing 2020-21 NBA season. To ensure that doesn’t happen again, Pat Riley was very aggressive this offseason. Whether it came to retaining their free agents or adding players from the outside, they pounced on who they thought would help improve the team.
They were able to keep their core together, as Duncan Robinson was re-signed to a five-year, $90 million deal in restricted free agency, the most money an undrafted player has ever signed for. Jimmy Butler and the team agreed to a max contract extension as well.
With them locked in, Miami got to work bringing in people from outside the organization. Kyle Lowry agreed to a three-year, $90 million deal and was acquired from the Toronto Raptors in a sign-and-trade.
P.J. Tucker signed a two-year, $15 million deal to leave the Milwaukee Bucks. Markieff Morris was snagged away from the Los Angeles Lakers.

There is no doubt that the Heat has improved the talent on this roster. One player that it is surprising to see still on the roster is Tyler Herro. Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that there was a 75 percent chance he would be on the move.
Herro turned some heads as a rookie, especially with his performance in the Orlando Bubble. But, he was unable to take that next step and, with the team being in win-now mode, could look to get a more established player in town.
Who might the Miami Heat engage in trade talks with? Let’s examine which team should aggressively pursue a trade for Tyler Herro.
