Marvin Bagley III
Things have not worked out for the Sacramento Kings or Marvin Bagley III since they selected him second overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. Bagley had high expectations coming out of Duke, and the Kings thought they had their frontcourt player of the future.
Injuries have been a big issue as Bagley has appeared in only 118 games in three seasons. His points per game and rebounding average have dropped each season in the NBA, which is even more concerning when you consider how poor of a defender he is.
Opponents’ eyes light up when they see Bagley across from them, as he struggles to defend anyone. If he doesn’t improve on that end of the court, he will find it difficult to land a spot on a team’s roster as his offense isn’t good enough to overcome his defensive deficiencies.
It also doesn’t help that Luka Doncic was selected with the pick right after Bagley. That put immense pressure on him and the Kings to find success, but things have not yet clicked. At this point, a change of scenery is probably what is best for both parties involved.

Entering the final season of his rookie deal, Bagley’s career hangs in the balance. His draft pedigree may be the only thing that provides him with a second chance if he cannot figure things out in his fourth season in the NBA.
