Dennis Schroder
Usually, when a player enters free agency, he and his agent understand the kind of offers he may receive. Dennis Schroder has the biggest misjudgment of a free agent market in recent history and possibly ever in the NBA.
Schroder turned down a four-year extension that was reportedly worth more than $80 million from the Los Angeles Lakers during the season. Looking to become a team’s lead ball-handler, something that will never happen as long as LeBron James is on the roster, Schroder wanted to test the market.
He thought he could land a contract that paid him upwards of $25 million annually. As free agency wore on, it became painfully evident that wasn’t going to be the case. Not only did Schroder not land $25 million annually, but he also didn’t even land a contract that would pay him that amount of money in total.
Schroder ended up signing a one-year, $5.9 million deal. Someone should be fired for how bad of a misfire that was on Schroder’s part as he lost out on at least $74 million and years of security this offseason.

While his asking price was high, there is no doubt that Schroder is worth a deal paying him in the mid-teens annually. He has proven to be an excellent sixth man and someone that can run an offense effectively.
He will look to prove that this season with the Celtics. If he can, free agency will be a lot nicer to him in 2022. If not, he will likely be remembered most in his NBA career for being the player who had the worst misjudgment of his market.
