Aaron Gordon
The Denver Nuggets acquired Aaron Gordon from the Orlando Magic at the 2020-21 trade deadline. It was a signal that the Magic were ready to rebuild around a new core of players, while the Nuggets were going for it in the Western Conference.
Since arriving in Denver, it was much of the same story for Gordon. He flashed some potential but can’t put it together consistently. Part of the issue could be the sometimes awkward fit of sharing the court with Michael Porter Jr. and Nikola Jokic. Gordon is probably better suited to play power forward, but Porter locks down that spot.
Gordon is an excellent defensive player, but his offense has never come along. He is supremely athletic, but his jump shot is erratic. He can get to the rim given his superior athleticism but doesn’t make teams pay from the 3-point line or when they foul him and send him to the foul line.
Turning only 26 in September, Gordon still has time to develop and round out his game. He will almost always have a spot on a team’s roster, as the coaching staff will always believe they can get the most out of his immense potential.

Heading into free agency in 2022, this season will make-or-break Gordon’s outlook after that. Will he finally blossom and be able to lock down a lucrative, long-term deal? Or will he struggle with consistency again, knocking his potential earnings way down on his next contract?
