The Utah Jazz finished with the best record in the NBA last season and with them adding both Rudy Gay and Hassan Whiteside in the offseason, they could be gearing up to have an even better 2021-22 season.
Utah has a chance to be a special team, but with all the other talented teams in the Western Conference, they are still missing something to be a real championship threat.
Marc Gasol is not that “something” they are missing, but this team does need some more depth in their frontcourt. Whiteside will be a solid rebounding addition behind Rudy Gobert, but is second-year big man Udoka Azubuike really a reliable third-string center for this team yet?
Not only can Gasol shoot from the perimeter, which would be a big boost to this team’s frontcourt on offense, but Gasol is still a solid defender, which fits Utah’s system perfectly.

The Jazz has a huge multi-team swap for their 2027 2nd round pick, which is why they could easily send this to the Lakers for Marc Gasol.
The Jazz is set to receive the worst second-round pick between the Thunder, Rockets, Pacers, and Heat for the 2027 NBA Draft, but this pick would be going to the Lakers as part of this trade.
Last season, Utah brought in Ersan Ilyasova midseason to try and add some shooting depth in their frontcourt, but he was not the player they thought he would be.

Marc Gasol can definitely still be a pick-and-roll shooting threat at the big man position and with 10-12 minutes per game, he could really thrive with the Jazz.
This is definitely an underrated destination for Gasol to end up with and while he is older and less impactful, this would be a good acquisition for the Utah Jazz.
