3 Ideal Trade Destinations For Raptors’ Goran Dragic

Goran Dragic

Veteran point guard Goran Dragic has been a steady producer throughout his NBA career. He had spent the last seven seasons with the Miami Heat as their starting point guard and played well when he was on the court.

Injuries have begun catching up with Dragic in recent seasons, playing in 145 games the last three seasons combined. That could be part of the reason that the team decided to move on from him this offseason.

Dragic was traded to the Toronto Raptors, along with Precious Achiuwa and a future second-round pick, in a sign-and-trade deal that landed Kyle Lowry with the Miami Heat. It was not a move that thrilled Dragic one bit.

During an interview that was not done in English, a translation was done that showed Dragic’s displeasure with the trade. Dragic, through the translation, said he had higher ambitions than playing with the Raptors and that it was not his preferred destination.

While things could have been lost in translation, Dragic later apologized for what he said. Could the Raptors move on from the veteran at some point? It would not be a surprise to see him flipped again in a trade, but a buyout is unlikely. Dragic is a good trade chip to have, and the Raptors will take advantage of it.

Which teams could be interested in the veteran point guard? Here are three teams who should consider a trade for the Slovenian.
