How This Trade Impacts Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves need to start winning some games. They have a great trio of Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell, who started playing solid basketball once they were healthy.
Minnesota finished the season 11-11 with Russell back in the fold, showcasing some progress under Chris Finch. One player that was missing from that mix was Malik Beasley, whom the Timberwolves re-signed the last offseason for a four-year, $60 million deal.
While Beasley has performed well for Minnesota, this is a deal that makes some sense for them. They are getting a steady veteran in Alec Burks, something they could certainly use more of. He and Patrick Beverley would give the team solid veterans to lean on.
Burks isn’t as prolific of a scorer but brings more defense and size to a Minnesota team lacking some depth at small forward.

Power forward is a spot that the team lacks, so Kevin Knox could have a chance to carve out a role in the frontcourt. He is still only 22-years old and needs a chance to play and develop his game.
Landing a future first-round pick gives the Timberwolves another asset to use in a bigger trade. They have been linked to Ben Simmons, so landing another first-round pick could strengthen their package for him.
