Phoenix Suns Receive: G/F Kenrich Williams, G Ty Jerome, CHA 2024 2nd Round Pick
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F Jalen Smith
The Oklahoma City Thunder are a team that is currently rebuilding and is always looking to add on young talents, so they should be interested in Jalen Smith. Plus, they really do not have much depth in their frontcourt, so Smith could be a guy they utilize immediately and look to build with for the future.
Darius Bazley and Aleksej Pokusevski are their two main “forwards” right now, but neither guy has proven themselves yet in the sense that OKC needs to be committed to them long-term.
Bringing in a guy like Smith could make a lot of sense not only for depth purposes but to spark a little bit of competition all year long for the Thunder so they can figure out who is their power-forward of the future.
For the Suns, Kenrich Williams and Ty Jerome are both solid bench guys to add to their roster, especially since both can contribute right away when needed. Williams is definitely an underrated player in this league, and he proved that last season in Oklahoma City, where he averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and shot 44.4% from three-point range.

Now, Kenrich Williams is not a game-changing player, but he is more than capable of holding his own and just being a really solid guy to utilize off-the-bench in certain situations. The same can be said about Ty Jerome, who actually began his career in Phoenix during the 2019-20 season.
Last year, Jerome averaged 10.7 points, 3.6 assists, and shot 42.3% from three-point range, making him a solid addition behind Chris Paul, Cameron Payne, Landry Shamet, and Elfrid Payton in the Suns’ system.

Jerome did have a good season last year, so OKC may not be too keen on the idea of trading him, but they did just draft Josh Giddey and Tre Mann in the first round, so you have to imagine that Ty Jerome’s minutes will begin to decrease in favor of the Thunder’s rookies.
The Thunder gets a young frontcourt player, and the Suns get two solid bench contributors, which is why this trade makes sense for both teams.
