Does this trade make sense for Indiana Pacers?
Essentially moving TJ Warren for Buddy Hield gives the Indiana Pacers a little bit of a boost in terms of three-point shooting, but this may not be the best deal for them to make for a couple of reasons.
First off, acquiring Hield would mean the Pacers would be bringing in the three years and $61.5M remaining on his contract, which could wind up being less than Warren’s potential new deal with Indiana next offseason if they decide to keep him, but Warren has a lot to offer.
Not only did he emerge as a key wing scorer in the NBA Bubble, but TJ Warren is an above-average perimeter defender who could do wonders for this Indiana Pacers’ team at full strength. Not to mention, Buddy Hield really does not have much to offer the Pacers other than being a three-point shooting threat.
Seeing as Indiana shot 36.4% from deep last year as a team, the 17th best in the league, they could definitely benefit from adding Hield, but there is more long-term success involved with keeping TJ Warren, hence why this deal may not make sense.

Although moving both Jeremy Lamb and Goga Bitadze are two options the Pacers probably would not be opposed to making.
