There was a lot of focus on the Dallas Mavericks this NBA offseason. After being eliminated from the first round of the playoffs for a second consecutive year by the Los Angeles Clippers, many believed a shake-up would be on the horizon.

The franchise from top to bottom saw changes made. Nico Harrison was hired to replace Donnie Nelson in the front office. Rick Carlisle stepped down as head coach and was replaced by Jason Kidd.

The roster saw some changes as well. Reggie Bullock and Sterling Brown were signed, as Josh Richardson was traded to the Boston Celtics. It sounds likely that Goran Dragic will be making his way to Dallas at some point after he secures a buyout from the Toronto Raptors as well.

Another thing people were watching for was the status of Kristaps Porzinigs. The Dallas Mavericks seem to have grown tired of him already and have gauged interest in him around the league. That interest was minimal, but they could still look to move him.

It is clear that the pairing of Luka Doncic and Porzingis isn’t as good as Dallas thought it would be. Porzingis isn’t as consistent as the team would like and he was disgruntled about his role on the team.

A parting of ways may be best for the two sides. All it takes is one team to emerge as a trade partner that wants to acquire The Unicorn. Here is one dark-horse team that should trade for Porzingis.
