Could the Bulls consider signing Mike Scott late in free agency?

The Chicago Bulls have had an extremely busy offseason that featured adding both Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan to the roster. Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic now have two more than capable players next to them to take pressure away from them. It was reported that Paul Millsap was a free agent the Bulls had interest in, but he chose to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. Could they turn their attention to signing veteran forward Mike Scott?

Scott has played the last three years with the Philadelphia 76ers. Last year, he didn’t play a big role, but he was always ready when his number was called. He could end up being a solid depth addition for the Bulls.

Ryan Heckman of Da Windy City mentioned Scott as a potential candidate for the Bulls.

Veteran forward Mike Scott is someone I pegged for the Bulls to poach from the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this year. The long time Atlanta Hawk and former second-round pick back in 2012 is still searching for a new home, and at 33 years old, can continue to offer a franchise some veteran depth in the front court.

Last season with the 76ers, Scott ended up playing in 51 games and he notched 12 starts. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in those appearances. Scott also shot 34.2 percent from the three-point line.

Throughout his entire career, Scott has shot 36.2 percent from the three-point line. That is an area that he can still provide help for whoever signs him. If the Bulls bring him in, they could use him as a spot-up shooter off of the bench alongside the “Big Four” that Chicago has put together.

At 33 years of age, Scott is entering the final stage of his career. He isn’t a guy that is going to power a team to being contenders, but he is the kind of player that can play 15 quality minutes per game and bring energy, tenacity, and shooting to the floor. Those are skills that the Bulls could always use.

Expect to see the Bulls continue to be active searching for roster upgrades. Mike Scott may not end up being a target, but he could make a lot of sense for Chicago.
