Dennis Schroder was one of the most disappointed players in NBA free agency this offseason. After waiting out most of the market, he ended up signing a one-year, $5.9 million contract with the Boston Celtics. Granted, he ended up landing with a legitimate contender and in a good situation, but the money was not close to where he wanted to be.

Even though his free agency did not go as planned, Schroder has been working out hard this offseason. It is obvious that he is looking to work his way into a much bigger deal next offseason when he hits free agency again.

Take a look at this new photo taken of Schroder during a recent workout. He looks absolutely jacked and Celtics fans should be getting excited about seeing him on the court this season.

Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Schroder put together a solid season. He didn’t fit great alongside Lebron James and Anthony Davis, which led to his departure from the team. However, he still showed his ability to score offensively, which is exactly what the Celtics signed him to do.

Schroder ended the season averaging 15.4 points per game to go along with 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds. He also chipped in 1.1 steals per contest. In addition to his averages, Schroder shot 43.7 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 33.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

Boston will hope to see Schroder’s shooting percentages rise a bit. He has never been a lethal three-point shooter, but he can knock down the long ball. Schroder will look to spearhead the Celtics’ back-court scoring, which is a role that will fit him nicely.

Expect to see a very motivated version of Dennis Schroder this season for the Celtics. He may not end up re-signing in Boston next offseason, but with a strong season he should get a much better deal. That’s clearly what he is gunning for as he works out this offseason.
