San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Buddy Hield
Sacramento Kings Receive: F Al Farouq-Aminu, F Chandler Hutchison, G Lonnie Walker IV, SAS 2024 2nd Round Pick, SAS 2025 2nd Round Pick

Compared to what they were rumored to be getting in a Buddy Hield to the Lakers trade back near the NBA Draft, this is not a lot of value the Kings would be getting back for their sharpshooter, but there is value to be had for them. If Sacramento really wants to move him and they are unable to land an All-Star like Ben Simmons for him, then making this move could make sense because of all the cap flexibility they would gain.

Buddy Hield has been a really solid contributor for the Kings, but his three-years and $61.5M remaining on his contract is not favorable due to the fact that they are not a threat right now in the Western Conference. This organization is tied down to Hield long-term and they have no financial flexibility, which is a big yellow flag for them.

Al Farouq-Aminu, Chandler Hutchison and Lonnie Walker IV are all entering the final years of their contract, meaning the Kings would not be tied down to them long-term and they could have open cap space to utilize next offseason. Re-signing Walker would obviously be a priority, but the point is that Sacramento does not have any open cap space right now, particularly because of Hield’s contract.

As for the Spurs, they are currently sitting above 15 allowed roster spots, so they need to be willing to move some players and they really have no use for guys like Aminu and Hutchison. Neither guy is going to wind up playing much with the depth San Antonio has at each position and Lonnie Walker IV is the only player of value they would be giving up.

Now entering his fourth season with the Spurs, Walker has averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and has shot 36.9% from three-point range, but he is coming off his best season in the league, as he averaged 11.2 points per game last year. Next to De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton, Lonnie Walker could prove to be a very valuable secondary talent in Sacramento.

If San Antonio wants to add another high-level shooter to their roster in an attempt to still be relevant, they should look no further than Buddy Hield. The only question though is whether Sacramento will deal him in this kind of package. It is worth noting as well that this trade cannot be made until after October 3 due to both Aminu and Hutchison recently being traded to San Antonio.
