Why Golden State Warriors Do This Trade

In a system that is less oriented on running high pick-and-roll, the Golden State Warriors could be an ideal fit for a playmaking center like Marc Gasol.

There have been some injury concerns with Kevon Looney at times in his NBA career and while Gasol is clearly not the player he once was, it would be helpful to add more depth at the position. Having an additional option would be a helpful option for the Warriors.

Draymond Green slides over to fill the five spot at times but James Wiseman is coming off an injury and is the only other true center-sized player in the mix.

In general, bringing in a veteran center like Gasol who has played a key role on a championship team could prove to be another quality voice to help mentor Wiseman as he develops. Gasol could directly lead by example playing the same position.

The level of passing from a frontcourt that features both Green and Gasol when coupled with the level of shooting the Warriors have with Stephen Curry and eventually Klay Thompson…that’s an intriguing set of skill-sets to put together.
