Why LA Clippers Do This Trade
There was a lot of focus on the LA Clippers’ backcourt, but their frontcourt could use a little shaking up as well. They accomplished that with the acquisition of Myles Turner.
Turner is an elite rim protector, giving them an upgrade in that regard over Ivica Zubac. He struggles sometimes defending the pick-and-roll but is excellent when challenging opponents at the rim.
Offensively, he will help space the floor with his 3-point shooting. He is a 35.2 percent shooter from deep, which will help open things up for them. He will also have the chance to showcase his offensive repertoire a little more, no longer playing alongside Domantas Sabonis, who was the Pacers’ main weapon in the frontcourt offensively.
Jeremy Lamb is a solid addition on the wing. He can help soak up some of the minutes left behind with Kawhi Leonard’s injury. He has battled injuries of his own but was productive when on the court.

Edmond Sumner has improved each season in the NBA with the Pacers. He was a part of the team’s rotation last season, averaging 16.2 minutes per game with 53 games played and 24 starts. He gives more depth in the revamped backcourt.
