This Nets-Thunder Trade Is Focused on Derrick Favors

The Brooklyn Nets fell short of their ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship last season. Kevin Durant was the last man standing from their Big 3, as James Harden battled an injury and was visibly hampered on the court. Kyrie Irving wasn’t even able to play with an injury of his own.

That led to a defeat at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks, who defeated the Nets in seven games in their second-round series. While the injuries played a big part in the Nets losing, it was their lack of interior presence that hurt them as well.

Blake Griffin and Jeff Green were logging most of the minutes at the center position for the Nets during the postseason. DeAndre Jordan was glued to the bench, as he didn’t play a single second in the playoffs.

Addressing that in the offseason was key for Brooklyn. They were able to add James Johnson to the mix on a veteran’s minimum deal and selected North Carolina center Day’Ron Payne with one of their first-round picks.
