The Orlando Magic still has veteran Terrence Ross on the roster, which will surprise some people. Orlando made it clear at the NBA trade deadline that they were going into another rebuild and retool period with the roster.

Long-time veterans Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon were both dealt at the NBA trade deadline, going to the Chicago Bulls and Denver Nuggets respectively. Ross was involved in plenty of rumors himself at the deadline but remained with the team.

Ross ended up missing the final 16 games of the regular season as the Magic got a look at some of their younger players. Rumors picked up again before the 2021 NBA Draft, with the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers mentioned as possible landing spots, yet Ross remained with Orlando.

With the NBA offseason winding down, there is still a chance that Ross is traded. Orlando has a lot of backcourt players that will be angling for minutes this season and could use this as an opportunity to move on from Ross to clear some minutes and add some more draft capital or another piece to build for the future.

Ross is coming off of the best season in his career and his value will likely never be higher. Maximizing on that and trading him away makes sense for Orlando.
