Charlotte Hornets Receive: G/F Jeremy Lamb, IND 2024 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected)
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Miles Bridges, F Nick Richards, BOS 2023 2nd Round Pick

Based off of first-glance, it seems like the Charlotte Hornets would not pursue Jeremy Lamb if it meant giving up Miles Bridges, but if they are going to want to acquire Jeremy Lamb, then they will need to send away about $6.3M in salaries since they are already above the salary cap and would need the trade to be pretty much balanced in terms of finances.

Nick Richards is a player Charlotte could wind up waiving before the start of the season to get down to 15 players on their active roster, so they likely would not have a problem trading him for Lamb, but Miles Bridges may not be the guy they would like to give up on.

Last season, Bridges averaged 12.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and shot 40.0% from three-point range, making him a key bench contributor for them. Trading him away is definitely not ideal for the Hornets, especially for an aging veteran like Jeremy Lamb who seems to always be dealing with injuries, but they would not really have many other choices.

Ish Smith and Mason Plumlee could potentially be two players the Hornets could include in a trade for Lamb, since both of their contracts matchup with Lamb’s, but Charlotte just acquired both of these guys in the offseason, so they obviously have plans to utilize them.

At this point, Charlotte seems content with their current roster and they likely will not be making any big changes unless they can add another big name to their roster. Jeremy Lamb is not that kind of player, which is why Miles Bridges is likely off-the-table for the Indiana Pacers, but let’s take a look at this deal from both team’s perspectives anyways.
