The Houston Rockets look to have had one of the biggest steals during the 2020 NBA offseason on their hands. When they landed Christian Wood as part of a sign-and-trade deal from the Detroit Pistons on a three-year, $41 million deal, some people were skeptical. Wood quickly proved any skeptics he had wrong.
Wood put together a career season with the Rockets, as he was finally able to showcase his skills in a starting role. The UNLV product was productive on both ends of the court and people took notice.
Wood averaged 21 points, 9.6 rebounds 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks in 32.3 minutes per game. He did battle some injuries, appearing in only 41 games, but he made his presence felt while on the court.
He ultimately finished fourth in voting for the Most Improved Player of the Year and received votes for the All-NBA Defensive Team as well. At 25-years old, Wood seems like he could be a building block for the future, but everyone has a price.
