Boston Celtics Receive: F Larry Nance Jr.
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Kris Dunn, F Aaron Nesmith, BOS 2022 2nd Round Pick, BOS 2024 1st Round Pick (Top-10 Protected)
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com the Cavaliers could have interest in trading Larry Nance Jr., but “it would take a lot to deal him.” Based off of first glance at this trade package, it does not seem like this is “a lot” for Boston to give up, which is why they may have to be willing to do a little bit better in order to try and acquire Nance Jr.
Nonetheless though, there is some value to be had in this trade proposal from the Celtics. Kris Dunn is a recently acquired player by the Celtics who cannot be moved until Oct. 6 unless he is traded by himself, but he is a former Top-5 pick who could still end up being a key rotational guard in this league.
Dunn has made a name for himself being a tough perimeter defender with quick hands, but his downfall is that his perimeter shot is non-existent and he can really struggle to score sometimes. Plus, he has dealt with some injuries over the years that have limited his playing time.
Aaron Nesmith on the other hand is a young wing who has a lot of potential to be a special player in his second season in the league.

Drafted 14th overall last year, Nesmith is coming off a great showing in Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 17.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and shot 36.1% from three-point range in five games.
This is a very small sample size to work with, especially since he did not play much last year during his rookie season, but as time goes on, Aaron Nesmith has a chance to be an impactful wing on both ends of the court. As for acquiring Larry Nance Jr., he could be the final piece the Celtics need in their frontcourt.
Boston just needs more talent on their roster and with Al Horford now being 35-years-old, he may not be the same veteran player that can be relied upon for production. Larry Nance Jr. on the other hand is an athletic, experienced forward who can supply the Celtics with scoring and solid defense night-in and night-out.

The Cavs are not just going to give him up for anything though, which is why the Celtics may have a hard time getting a deal around Nunn and Nesmith for Nance Jr. done.
