The last decade-and-a-half has not been too kind to the Sacramento Kings as they have not finished with a winning record since the 2005-06 season and they have now missed the playoffs for 15 consecutive NBA seasons.
The Kings have missed the playoffs for 15 straight times and barring some drastic change to their roster, they are set to miss the playoffs for a 16th consecutive season during the 2021-22 NBA season, which would be a new NBA record that nobody ever wants to have!
Between poor management and bad roster decisions, the Kings just have not been able to find any success over the years and it seems like they have cemented themselves in place to finish near last place in the NBA year-by-year at this point.
De’Aaron Fox is a bright spot on their roster, as are young talents Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell, but let’s not get our hopes up quite yet because Sacramento has screwed up having great talents before and they are not afraid to do so again.

For real though, the Kings need to be willing to do something right for a change and that starts with finding ways to gather key future assets. Regardless of what they think as an organization, the Kings are not close to being a playoff team right now, and are even further away from being a real threat, which is why they need to continue finding ways to gain more assets in order to build for the future.
This could mean giving up key talents on their roster now at a discount, but all-in-all, Sacramento needs to be willing to move on from large contracts and older players on their roster to solidifying a new direction for this franchise. One guy they could look to trade and have been looking to move on from for some time now is Harrison Barnes.

Numerous teams have been interested in him over the last year or so, but nobody has been willing to meet the Kings’ asking price for him.
Coming down on his price tag and just trying to get as much value as they can for him needs to be the goal right now, especially so they can continue to grow with their young talents. As a result, let’s look at three trade scenarios that the Kings should consider involving Harrison Barnes.
