Collin Sexton
One of the things the Dallas Mavericks came into the offseason looking to acquire was a secondary ball-handler to play alongside Luka Doncic. Thus far, they have been unable to check that box.
There have been plenty of NBA trade rumors linking Goran Dragic to the Mavericks. He was part of the sign-and-trade package that landed, Kyle Lowry, with the Miami Heat, as Dragic ended up with the Toronto Raptors. But, Dragic sounded less than thrilled to be there, making some negative comments about the organization.
Dallas is hoping that Dragic is bought out, as they do not want to trade for him. But, the Raptors have little motivation to buy him out at this time. Instead, the Mavericks could check in on another player that was reportedly available during this offseason in Collin Sexton.
Collin Sexton would be a great fit alongside Doncic in the Mavericks’ backcourt. He has some shortcomings as a playmaker, but his ball-handling ability is exactly what they would be looking to pair with their Slovenian superstar.

Allowing Collin Sexton to focus on scoring the basketball, what he does best, and be a secondary ball-handler and playmaker behind Doncic could bring out the best version of himself. The former Alabama product has also shown the ability to be a solid 3-point shooter, knocking down 38.5 percent of his 3-point attempts thus far in his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
