Navigating these types of situations is never easy for any franchise and the Portland Trail Blazers are just the latest to have to deal with it. There does not appear to be a pathway for the team to make significant changes in order to surround Lillard with the right pieces to contend. So is him potentially asking out inevitable?

For the first time in a long time, the New York Knicks have assets that they will be able to send away in a deal. Damian Lillard would be the main return and take over as the next superstar in New York.

It would have to be a package full of young prospect and start picks for Lillard to land with the Knicks. The Knicks selected Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. They would lead the return going back to Portland, along with Mitchell Robinson.

New York would need to be prepared to part with no shortage of draft assets, especially without sending out RJ Barrett. In order to initiate the rebuilding process, this would be a necessity to receie in any trade package that involves Lillard.

The amount of picks would be predicated on the current state of the situation at the time of a potential NBA trade scenario. If Lillard were to demand a trade, the Trail Blazers would have weaker leverage, but regardless, they would still receive an impressive return.
