Would this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
Bradley Beal is going to be the topic of conversation in trade talks but as of now, he is still on the team. That means the Washington Wizards could be looking for pieces to put around him.
Harrison Barnes is coming off a season where he scored 16.1 points per game for Sacramento. This was his most in a season since 2017 with the Dallas Mavericks. When looking at Barnes’ situation, he is not a bad fit in D.C.
Barnes is 29 years old and has two years left on his contract. This is not a long-term investment for the Wizards. They could hang onto Barnes and have him lead along with Beal or try and move him in another deal — if not this year than next.
The Wizards added Corey Kispert with the 15th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft which means they will have some more ability from three-point range. Barnes is a good mentor for a young small forward looking to burst onto the scene. Washington made the postseason and if they want to find a way back, they will need some more pieces around Beal.

This is not a blockbuster deal that is going to get Washington closer to a championship but it would help them compete in the Eastern Conference. There is not much down near the bottom of the standings and Washington could look to stay in the middle of the pack.
