It has been a busy offseason for the Atlanta Hawks after making a run to the Eastern Conference Finals. They were able to come out of nowhere this season and surprise the NBA world and now their stars are locked up. This was a priority coming into the offseason and the front office could shift gears to the trading block soon enough.
Atlanta entered the postseason as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. They were middle of the pack for most of the season but got hot at the right time. Trae Young was able to show what he could do on the biggest stage. He was difficult to guard and led them to one series from the NBA Finals.
Young and John Collins signed long-term extensions with the team which means the Hawks are going to be in contention for years to come if they put the right pieces around them. They had a balanced lineup this season and the front office could continue to shape the lineup in different ways.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are on the other side of the spectrum. They have been a rebuilding team near the bottom of the East since LeBron James left. That does not look like it is going to end soon but they have some promising young talents.
