Wesley Matthews

The Chicago Bulls were right in the middle of the pack last season when it came to 3-point shooting. They ranked 13th in the league, connecting on 37 percent of their attempts. They made 12.6 out of 34 per game, which ranked 16th and 17th respectively.

Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso are both solid 3-point shooters, but it doesn’t hurt to round your roster out with a few more. Wesley Matthews would be a good target in this regard.

The former Marquette product had a difficult 2020-21 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, making only 33.5 percent of his 3-point attempts and 35.3 percent of his shots overall. But, he is a 37.9 percent career shooter from the 3-point line and would provide Chicago with some emergency shooting should the need arise.

Going on 35-years old, Wesley Matthews may not have much left in the tank, but the Bulls wouldn’t be relying on him to fill too big of a role.

He would help replace the depth lost if Denzel Valentine, who is a free agent, signs somewhere else. The role that Garrett Temple filled last season could also be filled in by Matthews.

Wesley Matthews would be a solid veteran for the young wing players to learn from as well.
