The Dallas Mavericks entered this offseason for the second consecutive NBA season after suffering a loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers. Dallas lost in seven games in the first round, as Luka Doncic did everything he could to get the Mavericks into the second round of the playoffs.

Dallas has now failed to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs for 10 straight years. The last time they did was when they won the NBA Finals in 2011, which was preceded by three first-round eliminations out of four playoff appearances following their 2006 NBA Finals appearance.

As a result, there were some big changes within the organization. Long-time organization member Donnie Nelson was fired amid a power struggle with Haralabos Voulgaris, one of Mark Cuban’s trusted advisors. Not too long after, head coach Rick Carlisle stepped down from his position as well.

In their places, Nico Harrison and Jason Kidd were hired. They will now be tasked with improving the roster, as Harrison will be calling the shots with additions and subtractions and Kidd will look to develop them on the court.

The biggest obstacle that Harrison will face in the early going is what to do with Kristaps Porzingis? The excitement of acquiring him from the New York Knicks has worn off, as New York has done a total 180-degree turn since that trade and Dallas is now floundering for answers.

They have tried to trade him, but interest is minimal in the Latvian big man. But, minimal interest is better than zero interest. Here are three teams that are best positioned to trade for Kristaps Porzingis.
