It has been an eventful offseason for the Portland Trail Blazers with much of it being noise about superstar Damian Lillard potentially forcing his way out of town. That hasn’t happened but the team still has work to do after not making a splash in either the NBA Draft or free agency.
The Trail Blazers managed to make some helpful pickups in free agency by adding some complementary pieces like Cody Zeller, Ben McLemore, and Tony Snell, but those are not the type of moves that will move the needle by any stretch.
Going above and beyond ‘value additions’ is something the Trail Blazers may need to do in order to show Lillard that competing at the highest level is what the front office is wanting to do.

The Raptors took Scottie Barnes with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and could justify making a trade to net value for a rebuild. However, do the Trail Blazers even have the right pieces to make an offer of that nature to entice Toronto into making a deal?
