Dallas Mavericks
Luka Doncic is a fantastic player and he is going to be a legit MVP candidate next year, but the Mavericks really did not help him much this offseason, at least to this point. They re-signed Tim Hardaway Jr. to a four-year, $74M deal, but their other moves really are nothing major.
Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown and Reggie Bullock will all be members of the Dallas Mavericks during the 2021-22 season, but none of these three guys are really eye-popping names. Bullock put together a great season in New York last year and will definitely help the Mavs in terms of three-point shooting, but the Mavericks missed out on guys like DeMar DeRozan, Evan Fournier and Kyle Lowry, which would have been huge additions next to Luka and Porzingis.
Again, the moves the Mavericks made in free agency to this point are definitely not bad, but they are not great either and do not really make them a better team than they were this past season. Maybe they get a little better offensively with the addition of Bullock on the wing, but they are still missing that third key guy in their rotations.
Tim Hardaway Jr. had a terrific year in Dallas during the 2020-21 season and will continue to be viewed as this high-level scorer on the perimeter, but is he really a guy that the Mavericks can feel comfortable being a #2 scoring option next to Doncic if Porzingis is out or playing bad?

This will be a key question that we will look for answers on during the 2021-22 season, especially since the Mavs could be in play to potentially add another high-level talent sometime during next season. With Doncic’s max-extension on the horizon, time is running out for the Mavericks to add another difference-maker to their roster.
