In the days leading up to the 2021 NBA Draft, it appeared likely that Buddy Hield was finally going to be freed from the Sacramento Kings.

There were reports of a possible trade between the Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers that would have sent Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell to Sacramento in exchange for Hield.

However, in a sudden turn of events, the Lakers elected to conduct a trade with the Washington Wizards to acquire Russell Westbrook instead of getting Hield from the Kings.

Despite not being traded to Los Angeles, Hield could still be had for the right price, especially with Sacramento wanting to see De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton get more minutes together.

There aren’t many times you could add an efficient outside shooter like Hield for a relatively cheap price on the trade market.
