1. Ben Simmons

The biggest star that the Portland Trail Blazers would be able to target in a deal involving CJ McCollum is Philadelphia 76ers All-Star, Ben Simmons. The 76ers are motivated to make a deal involving Simmons, but the asking price right now is very high.

The packages that Daryl Morey and company asked the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors for in exchange for Simmons were exorbitant. If they are going to make a deal, their asking price will have to come down and the Trail Blazers can get into the foray with McCollum as a centerpiece.

For Portland, Simmons brings a lot of what they need. His shortcomings on offense would be mitigated with the all-world Damian Lillard leading the way. Norman Powell has shown he is a capable scorer as well, with Jusuf Nurkic offering scoring on the interior and Robert Covington offering spacing on the perimeter.

Simmons could slide into a wing role with Portland, as Lillard and Powell can handle backcourt duties. The defense that Simmons would bring would help the Trail Blazers immensely, as he can defend the best player on the opposing team regardless of position.

If the Blazers were able to pull off a deal for Simmons, they would be a lot to handle in the Western Conference as a more balanced, two-way team.
