After playing in Detroit over the course of six different NBA seasons, Reggie Jackson went to the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2019-20 season and his career was hanging in the balance of the Clippers.
Interest in Jackson league-wide had decreased drastically over the years and if he did not perform well in L.A. then Reggie Jackson’s NBA career could come to an end.
After performing well in the NBA Bubble, the Clippers decided to bring Reggie Jackson back for the 2020-21 season on a minimum contract and he outperformed his contract by miles! During the regular season, Jackson averaged 10.7 points, 3.1 assists and shot 43.3% from three-point range, but he made his money in the playoffs.
Jackson averaged 17.8 points and shot 40.8% from three-point range in the postseason for the Clippers and when Kawhi Leonard went down with his ACL injury, Reggie Jackson was the guy to step up in the No. 2 role next to Paul George in Los Angeles’ offense.
While he has not signed a new contract yet in free agency, Reggie Jackson’s time is coming. He will definitely be getting a contract larger than the minimum and once again, he will continue to prove his worth in the NBA. He is only 31-years-old as well, so Jackson can definitely help any contending team right away!
So which teams could still consider Jackson this late in free agency? Let’s take a look at three teams in particular who could be interested in adding the veteran guard to their backcourt.
