Reggie Jackson

Reggie Jackson looked like he had a promising career ahead of him when he helped lead the Detroit Pistons to the NBA playoffs during the 2015-16 season. He averaged 18.8 points and 6.2 assists per game that season, resulting in a five-year, nearly $80 million deal.

He was unable to replicate that production, as injuries would derail him. The Pistons would eventually buy him out and he landed with the LA Clippers. His performance to close out the 2019-20 season with Los Angeles was nothing to write home about, but he earned himself a monster contract with his performance this past season.

Jackson was outstanding in the 2021 NBA Playoffs and picked his game up following Kawhi Leonard’s injury. He averaged 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists as the go-to option alongside Paul George.

That performance will lead him to become the new starting point guard for the New York Knicks.

Still, with some cap space to spend, Jackson will sign a lucrative deal in the Big Apple, taking over the starting spot from Elfird Payton and combining with Derrick Rose to be a solid combo at the point of attack for Tom Thibodeau.
