Ahead of the 2020-21 NBA season, the New York Knicks declined the team option for Bobby Portis after signing him to a two-year deal the year before.
The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t waste much time, signing Portis to a two-year, $7.4 million deal in free agency nearly a year ago.
Portis’ contract with the Bucks came with a player option in the second year and seeing that he’s outperformed his current salary, he’s expected to decline his player option in favor of testing free agency.
Amid Milwaukee’s run to the NBA Finals, Portis has been a much-needed spark off of the bench.
The former first-round pick out of Arkansas averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in the regular season while shooting a whopping 47.1 percent from deep. While his numbers have taken a slight dip in the playoffs, Portis has been a key contributor for the Bucks.
Before Bobby Portis officially decides to test free agency, let’s take a look at four teams who should pursue him on the open market.
