Evan Fournier
The Boston Celtics acquired Evan Fournier from the Orlando Magic at the trade deadline. Two second-round picks were sent to Orlando, as Boston used a portion of the trade exception created from Gordon Hayward going to the Charlotte Hornets the last offseason to bring Fournier in.
Fournier was widely expected to be re-signed by Boston this offseason, especially since they used so much of their trade exception to acquire him. However, the two sides are reportedly far apart on contract talks and the Celtics are losing confidence in their ability to keep him in Beantown.
Rival executives believe Fournier will land a contract in the neighborhood of $15 million annually. While that may be too expensive for Boston to commit to, there is a team that has the cap space to do that and more.
Fournier will leave Boston for one of their division rivals in the New York Knicks. There is mutual interest between Fournier and the Knicks already and New York has ample cap space. There is also a need for another scorer alongside Julius Randle and RJ Barrett and Fournier will fill that hole.

Fournier is a career 37.9 percent 3-point shooter, giving New York some more floor-spacing and another guy that can create his own offense. He is also a solid playmaker, giving Tom Thibodeau another player that can initiate the offense for stretches.
