Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie is entering free agency coming off a season that was cut short after three games because of an ACL injury. Despite that, he is still one of the more popular players in this year’s free agency class.

Teams are banking on him returning to form when he averaged 20.6 points per game during the 2019-20 season with 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds. The Brooklyn Nets are unlikely to re-sign him, but this presents an excellent opportunity for them to add some much-needed depth to their roster.

Brooklyn should work with Dinwiddie so that he gets a nice contract and he can play for the team that he wants to. The New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans have all been mentioned as teams that are showing interest in Dinwiddie.

With his pick of the litter, Dinwiddie will end up with the Pelicans as their new starting point guard. New Orleans had been putting a lot of eggs into the Kyle Lowry basket, but with the Miami Heat looking like the team that will land him, they will pivot to Dinwiddie.

The high-scoring combo guard will give New Orleans another scoring option alongside Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram for what could be a very explosive offense. His size will also allow him to play alongside any other guard the Pelicans may bring in or already have on the roster as he can play point guard or shooting guard.
